Begining the Lenten journey afresh each year is something which means new depths of faith, scripture, spiritual formation and connection are possible.
This year's ecu Lent course by Churches Together in Britain & Ireland is entitled 'Easter People in a Good Friday World: Witnessing Christ in the Conflict of Life' and it is full of stories of struggle and hope. Several Christian communities in Wythenshawe are seeking to follow the journey of Jesus using stories this year - some with this material, some getting straight to scripture with exploration.
This material is brimming with potential - stories, prayers and questions for pondering and stretching us. This year, again, one could say that the UK is still at war. Using this material or encountering Jesus through it and/or through the Bible with that backdrop of conflict and bloodshed during Lent should surely prompt us to new depths as to how to witness to Christ in the conflict of life.
