I love my church...

St. Marks United Reformed Church recently shared why we love our church by celebrating this in Sunday worship, discussing, sharing & speaking aloud some of the reasons why we love our church. We did a fill-in-the-blank sentence and here's what we came up with. They are so great we want to share them (& our church) with everyone!

I LOVE MY CHURCH...
  1. because it's open every day & there's love in it every day

  2. because sometimes it feels like an oasis for thirsty people

  3. because it doesn't just happen in the building - its wider than that, we take it with us

  4. because it helps people

  5. because I think it is the backbone of this community

  6. because we feel completely accepted

  7. because I like the bread & wine

  8. because it welcomes everybody

  9. because I don't know what I'd do without it

  10. because it strengthens my faith

  11. because theres toys in the back

  12. because of prayer, hope, faith & friendship

  13. because it was the first church I came to in Wythenshawe about 88 years ago!

  14. because it is an open church

  15. because I like the hymns

  16. because it's God's house

  17. because if you are sick or very ill the church is there for you

  18. because it can be a haven of peace from a mad world outside

  19. because the church does different things to help people, like visit them

  20. because it's a loving faith building

  21. because it's the place I can share my faith most

  22. because the people are friendly

  23. because it strengthens my faith in God & if I've no faith then I've nothing

  24. because we've met so many different kinds of people from so many different parts of the world

  25. because God inspires me and people inspire me to change the world for good!

  26. because we think things through about the bible & our lives

  27. because we take a stand for social justice & look after the earth

There are more but I wonder - if you worship in community what do you love about your church? Comments anyone?
