This photo is from our indoor Wythenshawe Garden of Gethsemane which we made and prayed together in last night (Tues) with soil, water, music, bible readings, sand, silence, Jesus. It was very powerful for us as we were together in prayer and imagination with Jesus. Some washed feet or hands, others played with soil or sand, some looked at the different images of Jesus from the previous evening, some prayed on our knees, some lay face down in front of the baptismal font or communion table. Many of us were moved to tears as we agonised with Jesus as his disciples in the Wythenshawe Garden of Gethsemane. Some wrote letters to Jesus of our time with him there. Perhaps I will post them later...We wanted to stay with Jesus in the garden and not to desert him as his disciples likely did...
Today's prayer: People of Faithfulness
God, bearer of betrayal
Pray in us your prayer of faithfulness
That we may practice our discipleship with fidelity.
God, bearer of betrayal
Pray in us your prayer of devotion
That we may pracice our relationships with love.
God, bearer of betrayal
Pray in us your prayer of healing
That we may practice our faith with shalom.
Where people are troubled in spirit
Where people are being betrayed
Where people are pulled away from relationship with you
Enable us to practice faithfulness.
Where people are living in broken relationship
Where people are betraying the Gospel entrusted to them
Where people are attracted by a short-term fix
Enable us to practice faithfulness.
Where peope are bearing more than seems possible
Where people are living with troubling secrets
Where people are offered no other ways
Enable us to practice faithfulness;
in relationship to you, each other, the earth.
Amen
