Gifts given from a variety of churches and community groups have been shared or are off to Lorna Lodge for young women, Women's Aid for women & children fleeing domestic abuse, adults, teens & children connected with MARIM who are seeking asylum or are desitute asylum seekers in Manchester. It is always difficult to encourage folks to buy gifts for adults and teenagers and we are short again this year but we have plenty of toys for children. If you would still like to give a gift for a teenager or adult you could offer a music, book or clothes shop voucher, luxury food or toiletries set. You could also offer knitted scarves, hat, gloves or hot water bottles. These kinds of gifts are suitable for teens and adults in different situations this Christmas who may be adjusting to life in a host country which is very cold.
We give thanks to God for the several hundred toys and other gifts and those who have given them. Praise God that in the credit-crunch we remember the people marginalised and those who are poorest amongst us in our communities and offer practical support and care where we can.
