Our Worship Planning Group met last recently and we identified several themes for us to explore over the next couple of months in Sunday worship series: Women in the Old Testament, The Holy Spirit and Same Sex Relationships! What an interesting mix! So far we have been travelling with Women in the Old Testament through July: Mrs Noah, Eve, Sarah, Milcah and Esther. We have also launched a community gathering called Red Tent for creating a women only evening once a month on 1st Saturday monthly 7.30-9.30pm at our venue St. Marks URC, Oatlands Rd, Manchester M22 6AH. We had 13 different women from a wide variety of backgrounds. It has been inspired by the book Red Tent by Anita Diamant who is Jewish and explores womens spaces to affirm menarch, menstruation, pregnancy and menopause through Old Testament/Hebrew Bible women.
August will be exploring through Living Conversations booklet prepared by the United Reformed Church local churches about Same Sex Partnerships. Thats a fantastic summer for us and also of course lots of us are taking part in sports with Wythenshawe Olympics around the housing estate. A huge variety of things on offer to try and 2 full days of it for everyone at Wythenshawe Park this coming weekend 21st & 22nd July. The seeds of the Dandelion Community are being shared in a variety of places with different people!
