V Day, 1 Billion Rising and International Womens Day 2013
In recent weeks women have been creating all sorts of new spaces around the world to take action for respect of their bodies, choices, lives. Several movements have culminated in huge actions on 14th Feb for V Day with the 1 Billion Rising dances from Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield, London and other cities in the UK to India, Congo and South America. V Day is known for its special performances and fundraising through showing The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. At St. Marks United Reformed Church we did 2 performances of The Vagina Monologues a few years ago and fundraised for our Women's Refuge. On Friday 8th March is another special day as its International Womens Day 2013 so we're marking it by having an International Women's Day Wonders event in Wythenshawe at The Dandelion Community/St. Marks URC from 11am-2.30pm at Oatlands Road, Woodhouse Park, Wythenshawe, Manchester M22 1AH UK. All women welcome! There will be henna tattoo painting, jewellry-making workshop, meditation talk and taster, craft/bead stall, healthy eating and lifestyle info, dancing sessions, art workshop, baby & tots area, music and more! Free entry and most things are free. Lots of women dont make time for themselves so come along, bring your women mates and take time out together on Friday 8th March.
