Things are going well with planning ecumenically for our 24 hour gathering called 'Inspiring Prayer'. We are now 6 different churches involved and committed to praying together in this way on the Saturday before Palm Sunday. People are keen to come and share an hour with God through prayer during the late hours and we have different guided prayer hours too with silence, Taize chants, painting & colour prayer, music and we are planning to have the North Western Synod labyrinth set up for people to join in with at any time too.
Our theme for this year at St. Mark's is 'Growing closer to Jesus in the world' and our aim for this year is 'Deepening our spiritual life with God'. It was exciting that with these in mind we agreed at church meeting today to embark on a 6- month exploration through visits, worship, teaching sermons, prayer, renewal group and bible studies focussed on New Ways of Being Church and searching for God's purposeful movement in our midst. This builds on the work of the elders meeting and previous meetings. We do not have an outcome in mind but the purpose of our explorations is to sense from God what the future holds with St. Marks United Reformed Church. This is an exciting adventure taking us into exploring faith in the context of religious and spiritual climates beyond Sunday church worship.
Pray for us!
