With 20 babies, toddlers, teens & adults we launched messychurch! on Saturday 26th Jan as a new monthly-congregation within St. Marks United Reformed Church.Our focus was New Beginnings so we shared a story about new beginnings with a baby, with celebrating with presents (and made a treasure box with treasures for our story inside). We made a giant nature collage about the cycle of beginnings in nature & planted a lemon-scented evergreen tree in the church grounds together. We made bread to eat with our tidy or messy soup & eton mess for lunch! It was a chaotic, fun and friendly time. Two girls who'd never been to church before were up at 6am that morning with excitement & plan to invite 2 friends for next time who've never been to church before! A family exploring baptism enjoyed splogy painting and some of our families who took part in the 2007 community fun days and craft weekends also took part.
It was a great New Beginning for messychurch! We are looking forward to next time 23 Feb 10am-12noon at St. Marks United Reformed Church, Oatlands Road, Manchester M22 6AH. Hope you'll visit, take part & bring friends to try it out!
